Don't expect lenses to darken much--or quickly when in sunlight

I am very disappointed by the fact that the lenses do not darken quickly, nor do they darken very much. I was outdoors on a bright but overcast day. The lenses did not seem to darken much, if at all. I then made sure to wear them on a sunny day. The lenses did darken, slowly, but not as well as sunglasses. My eyes are sensitive to light. My eye doctor tells me to always protect my eyes when outdoors, sunny or overcast. With these glasses, I do not feel protected even though I may be. I find the light conditions to be too bright. I do not find these glasses to do the job, and I have to put on my regular sunglasses.
